Currency The local currency is the Thai Baht and it is the only currency that is excepted in most establishments. In the bay area of Had Yuan and Had Tien, many of the places often run a tab, of which you can pay off at the end of your visit. You can exchange cash, traveler’s cheques, and use your debit card and visa in Had Rin through ATM’s, exchange centers, and banks.
Language The local language is Thai, and although most people speak English, the Thais love it when we try and greet them in their own language.
Communications There is internet and WIFI at the neighbouring beach of Had Tien at the Sanctuary, and a new internet place is now available at Bamboo Huts. The nearest post office is in Had Rin (the internet is also readily available here). You can make calls with a phone card at a local telephone booth, or from the travel agents or internet stores in Had Rin- or at the Sanctuary in Had Tien.
Visa & Passport To enter into Thailand you must have a passport valid for at least 6 months as from the date of entry.
Most nationalities can obtain a 30 day visa which is given upon entry. If you are anticipating staying longer, then you should apply for a 60 day visa before leaving. It is always best to check with the Thai Embassy in your home country before traveling.
Travel & Medical Insurance No Health Documents are required to enter Thailand but medical & travel insurance is recommended. Please check in with your local travel clinic for traveling in this area.
Pharmacies and clinics are available in the near by bay of Had Rin should you need any medical supplies. The medical facilities are excellent and of high standards in Thailand.
